The CONNEX Spring Pin – Standard and Ground

CONNEX Heavy and Light Spring Pins have a distinct advantage among commonly used tension fastening and locating elements for the following reasons:

  • The CONNEX Principle offers design advantages over standard spring pins.
  • Higher manufacturing precision results in closer tolerances in diameter and length.
  • The closed shape permits automatic feed, making CONNEX Pins suitable for assembly units.
  • The toothed slot increases roundness, thus allowing use as axial pin and center pivots.
  • The ground version gives substantially improved precision.

Specific applications using the unique characteristics of CONNEX Spring Pins allow innovated construction solutions. Some examples:

  • When using several pins to connect two parts the CONNEX Spring Pin takes care of the unaboidable minimum amount of error in distances between the center of axes. This feasible with plain pins, but especially so with Ground CONNEX Spring Pins, in applications which require high precision.
  • In today's gear and vehicle industries, positioning problems must be solved under conditions of high frequency vibrations, whereby both high precision and elasticity are required in the pin connection. A situation for which the CONNEX Pin is ideal.
  • The CONNEX Spring Pin is also suitable as an axle for hinge functions. Its closed shape protects the hinge bore. The bore diameter of the moving part is then determined by the diameter of the pin before insertion.
  • In hardened pieces the use of solid cylinder pins is very expensive. In many cases, Ground CONNEX Spring Pins solve this problem. In the tool and jig manufacturing industries, there are still many possible rationalization opportunities.

The Ground CONNEX Spring Pin

The Ground CONNEX Spring Pin can be described as a uniquely designed fastening and locating pin that provides options to engineers that are not offered with solid or regular spring pins.

Many sectors of the vehicle, pump, machine tool, compressor and motor industries, along with others, require and precise positioning of assembled parts. Even with the high precision of CNC controlled machinery, small deviations can occur in the center axes of the receibing bore in those parts. This causes problems during assembly. Our measurement table gives details about standard tolerances. Ground pins with diameter tolerances up to IT 6 are available for close tolerance applications.
